Available to: Ages 13-25
Award Amount: $1,000
While we're big fans of the classics, mythology didn't die out in 1000 BCE. In fact, we're surrounded by updated versions of classic tales every day (before Thor was saving the world with the Avengers, he was an important character in Norse mythology). Myths are living, breathing organisms that grow and change with our societies. Superheroes are our demigods and urban legends are our monsters. How would you update a classic myth, or create your own? We want to read your interpretations of myths and legends from around the world. Would Aphrodite be an Instagram queen? Who would Anansi the trickster hang out with in high school? Would Thor be any good at video games? Tell us in a poem your modern version of a traditional myth or urban legend, or go ahead and create your own for your chance to win.
