UTSA Bold Promise - Free Tuition

UTSA Bold Promise is a program committed to make a college education more accessible to high-achieving students from low and middle-income families.

An estimated 4,100 newly admitted students could qualify for UTSA Bold Promise in Fall 2020, according to a press release from the university.

The Bold Promise is open to first-time freshmen who are Texas state residents who come from families with an income up to $50,500 the median income in San Antonio and qualify for admission by ranking in the top 25% of their high school class. Incoming freshmen who qualify will have their tuition and fees covered 100% for eight fall/spring semesters taken within a 4-year time period (approx. $40,000 value), as long as eligibility is maintained. Costs are covered by scholarships, grants or tuition exemptions from federal, state and/or institutional funds.

UTSA plans to devote an estimated $41 million in aid with this program.

Requirements include:

+ Must be a Texas Resident

+ Have a family income up to $50,500*

+ Submit a FAFSA/TASFA by Jan 15th

+ Be admitted as a Freshman for Fall 202 by Jan 15th

+ Rank in top 25% of high school class

+ Enroll full-time (12 credit hours or more) each semester

*Student must have financial need. Family income information will be determined from the FAFSA/TASFA. Student must have graduated high school within 16 months of initial enrollment as a first-time freshman. Students must meet the above criteria at the time of admission.
